Upcycling - The Funkie Junkie Boutique

There is a new challenge over at The Funkie Junkie Boutique

'Ready for some spring cleaning? Try using something that would end up in the trash as part of your creative project! Up-cycle thrift store finds, use your junk mail or product packaging in creative and 'arty' ways. Let's see what you can do with "trash"'

My hubby and I are planning on taking a nice trip in a couple of years and to save for it I needed a place to drop money.
I started with a pasta sauce jar

I covered it a couple of times with white gesso

I added some Tim Holtz Grit paste with the Stampers Anonymous Tim Holtz Layering Stencil - Dot Fade

I also added some crackle medium and allowed it to dry

I then set about to coloring it all.  I mixed Prima Finnabair Art Ingredients Mica Powder Set - Golden Hour 969172 with clear gesso and had fun painting

I love the beachy feel from the color palette

I then mixed the mica powders with water in a small spray bottle and sprayed some flowers and the rope that I  adhered to the lid from my stash.  I also added some mixed color small flowers from the store, and some art stones that I also sprayed with the mica spray

I also covered the top with flowers

Thanks for stopping by
Laura

Laura; this is soooo FABULOUSLY BEAUTIFUL!!! No kidding that it shows off your thinking of how BEAUTIFUL your vacation will be!! Not only am I humbled that you shared this with us all, but I hope you’ll bring something back that will fit into this along with some photos- a beautiful ‘vacation time capsule’ to remind you of how hard you worked for that: both in savings & TALENT!!!
