I am THRILLED to announce our February Guest Designer at Flying Unicorn, Gerry van Gent!! Gerry is an extremely talented, and has such attention to detail that I am in constant awe of her creations.

Here is what Gerry had to say:

My name is Gerry - a 38 years old Bulgarian woman who lives in The Netherlands. I`m a mom of two adorable kids and a wife of a very supportive hubby. I`m a SAHM and I have plenty of time to spend with my kids and of course I have plenty of time for my hobbies...scrapbooking and photography. I got involved in scrapbooking back in 2003 when my first child was born and I never stopped since then. I find inspiration in my kids, in every day life and of course in the products I work with.

My work is always detailed and dimensional. I love misting, masking, stamping, making my own embellishments and I love hand-stitching on my layouts.
I currently design for Webster`s Pages, The Scrap Cake, The Color Room, Imaginarium Designs, Once Upon A Sketch, Manor House Creations, Scrapdelight and I`m a teacher at Miss Art`s Papercrafting school.
I`m so honored and happy to be guest-designing for Flying Unicorn - amazing kits to work with and a must-have for every crafter. Thank you for this opportunity!

Hi everyone! We have just finished uploading our challenges for February over at the unicorn and let me tell you there are some fun and fabulous challenges this month!

Here is my challenge

February is the month of love and to me a kiss can hold more love in an instant than a life time of 'I love yous' A kiss holds passion, caring and affection....weather it is to your spouse, your friend or your family....a kiss is a beautiful thing....it's a lot like pizza...even when its bad its good! lol!

So this month I want to see you do a project with a photo or image of a kiss

* Must be new as of today and posted before the 29th of Feb at 8:00pm est

I found out this morning that I have received a blog award from a fellow blogger! How cool! A very sweet and uber talented lady by the name of Tammy gave this to me. You must check out her blog...Tammy has mad talent!!!! Click on her name and it will take you to her wonderful blog.

I love to work with chipboard! you can do so much with it...ink it, stamp it, spray it, crackle it, paint it, bling it and so much more....you can even leave it naked and it looks fabulous.

For my first project I used Riddersholm papers, Bello Pastello Collection No64, Bello Pastello Collection No69, Bello Pastello Collection No77 and of course some awesome chipboard....Flourish 1 ( 3 on board) : by Imaginarium

To enhance the awesome chipboard I used Tattered Leather - Glimmer Mist and a few pearls I had in my stash

My second project is a Fabulous little chipboard album from Melissa Francis! I also used some wonderful papers from Fabscraps, and Riddersholm and Pink Paislee's Anthology Flair rosettes. Some alphas, embellishments and lace from stash

I decided to use the album as a memory keeper from 2011....I used my favorite photo from each month or a photo that affected me somehow (see March)

I hope I have inspired you a bit today to get out your shipboard and have some fun!

I know my boys are not perfect, they don't like to clean their room, they get a little mouthy once in a while, Cody would rather play video games all day than do anything else but they are my wonderful, sweet, caring, fabulous little boys.....

I swear I just posted last week but I looked and it was 2 weeks ago...oh my time sure has sped by.

I guess it is the time of year...it is so busy....Our two boys, my two nephews and my niece and great niece were all born between November 16th and December 22nd so we have one large party for them all.....it is so fun. Everyone has a great time and all the cousins get to play.

On the weekend we went on our annual Christmas shopping trip every year my brother Rob and his wife Brenda and my hubby Jon and I go shopping....list in hand and debit card we hit the stores! We have almost everyone done. We have to get a few small things but otherwise we are done! I am so excited! I can't wait to see the boys faces when they see what we bought them!!!!

So I have been having a bit of scrappy fun this week......

I created this layout for a crop challenge I created over at scrapshotz!

I had so much fun layering and using textures! It was great just to play around!

This is my hubby and my great niece....only my hubby would be a 6 month old on a go kart with him!

The next two layouts I created for the fabulous fall crop over at wescrap!

the first one I created, has some hidden journaling under the photo about the lessons I have learned so far in life!

This was just a fun layout with my oldest! The photos aren't the greatest but I wanted to use them anyways!

So Sebastian called this weekend from his home in Belize to let us know that he and his girlfriend had a beautiful baby girl!!!!!! I'm a Oma! Can you believe it? She is perfect! Just look....

I can't believe I am 40!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What happened!!!!! I blinked and now I have a 10 and 9 year old son, an 18 year old stepson, a new grandbaby and I'm 40! Wow am I feeling old this week!

So for all you new people who have hopped by my pad and even for those that know me.... I'll introduce myself and give you a little info about me!

My name is Laura, and I am so happy to be the DT coordinator at Scrapdango! I love being on the team with the amazing women there! I am happily married to a fabulous man, Jon for the past 11 1/2 years and together we have to amazing little boys Cody and Tyler! Our boys are 13 months apart! I am also blessed with an 18 year old stepson, so I tease my hubby that he is old because he has an adult son and I don't! In actuality I am 3 years older than him! I turn 40 in a few months but don't remember getting old...I guess that is a sign of getting old! I am scared to death of rodents! You know those cartoons where the woman stand on a chair with a broom and screams when she sees a mouse? Yup that is me! lets see...what else....I volunteer at my boys school....I love to bake and cook (hence the need for a diet)....I have a doberman named Rebel who is a big SUCK!

Here is my challenge
I love to distress my papers, I love to use kraft cardstock, I love to make my own flowers, I love to use browns, I love to layer, one of my new favorite companies is Glitz, I love lace and I love to use different fonts in my title!

So my challenge for you is to use your favorite color(s), favorite company(ies) favorite technique(s) and favorite product(s) in a layout!

Recently my hubby finished the boys go kart and they have been having a blast! They take that thing out every weekend...and just in case you are wondering Jon is having a heck of a good time on it too

And one of their favorite things to do is take it out after the rain and get filthy!

Even Jon got in on the fun!

BUT if you are going to get it dirty you have to clean it up

Unfortunately they don't have to do the laundry!

Sorry I haven't been posting much, just my reveals, I have been crazy busy the last few months with life in general. I will try to post more often...
Sebastian is back for a visit, which is fabulous.....everyone is enjoying his company.

do you ever just sit and talk to your kids? I love to talk mine, the things they say sometimes surprise me....for instance Cody asked me the other day if I thought man would every create a time travel machine....he's 10 so all this sci fi stuff is pretty cool to him, I answered that I didn't know to which he replied 'well if we could we could travel back in time and save Jesus from the cross or at least bring back proof and then there wouldn't be any more doubters and the world would be better.' pretty deep for a 10 year I think....

I am not a girly girl! it is a HUGE challenge for me to work with pastels or pretty papers that are very feminine BUT this months kit at Scrapshotz was a real pleasure to work with.... I did some layouts of my new great niece Isabella.....she is so precious!

I also created a layout about being Sebastian's Step mom

Amd using the reverse side of the papers I created a layout about my son Cody and my bff's little boy....

and of course some mothers day cards for my mom and my mother in law....

So at first I was a little intimidated by the frilly papers but once I started working with these amazing SEI Couture papers I am really happy with the result

What a busy busy time of year. It seems like it was a month till Christmas and now it is really just days away.....what happened? Where did my time g o...while I run around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get the last minute things done for Christmas I thought I would share my December reveal at Scrapdango!

I put my dad's favorite jell;y beans (from Dare who make fabulosu nut free candies, cookies and crackers and his gift certificate in it)

I know I say it every month but holy cow this months kit is packed full of wintery goodness!

It features the entire Echo Park Wintertime Collection, plus doubles of their distressed solids ( 15 sheets total, plus the alpha and element sticker). Then we added 8 sheets of Bazzill Cardstock ( white, pinecone, starmist and marachino), the sticker sheet from Fancy Pants " hot chocolate" and the rhinestones, brads and dimensional stickers from Bo Bunny Midnight Frost. To top it off you'll get 3 yards of deluxe May Arts Ribbon, a white brillliance ink, a Technique Tuesday snowflake stamp and a package of Melissa Frances chipboard snowflakes.

Thanks giving weekend we went to the Brigden fair with my brother Rob and his wife Brenda. It was a lot of fun and I did get a couple of shots....

On Sunday when I met my brother and sister in law to drop off my beautiful niece Alisha we went early enough so the boys could play at the skate park a little while. They are not skateboarders but they like to try and they have so much fun. I took a few shots and thought I would share!

So week three's challenge is up and I completed my layout!!!! I really like how this one turned out

This week's lesson is English, we will be looking at some creative writing, different alphabets and maybe a little researching.
Get out your reading books, collect your fonts and let's get started.
Please make sure your pencil is sharpened and your lines are ruled nicely

Your required elements:
At least 2 different fonts in your title
One of these forms of writing seen on your page (Book paper, patterned paper with writing on it, script paper or stamps)
Your journaling needs to be either a 'Once upon a time' story or a letter to the person scrapped.
It can be hidden journaling, but please include a photo of it.

For Extra Credit:
Include a quote on your page
Use lined paper

Next challenge

The next challenge was posted at Dango...this week it was science class!

Ladies this week is Science class. I hope you have all your test tubes ready. This is a fun class and I hope you enjoy it.

When you think about science class the first thing most people think about is disecting a frog *so you need to use a picture of an animal.

Since we are in science class we need to create an experiment to work on
* you need to use a technique on your layout. You can decide what the technique is but it should be a little more difficult than just distressing. Create a flower, etc. when you upload your project please make sure you specify what technique you used.

While working on your experiment there was an accident and the test tubes bubbled over on your project *you need to use mist or paint on your layout.

extra credit - use an xacto knife or fussy cut something on your layout.
Sewing - machine or hand stitching no rubons.
Journaling spot - to jot down your experiment results.

Meet Rebel...

he is our new puppy. We were going to wait till we came back from vacation in February but my brother & sil (thank you Rob & Brenda) really really wanted to buy our boys a dog. so here he is.

We have had him for a little over a week and he is precious! He is 10 week old purebred Doberman (we owned one before) and he is really really smart. He already knows sit, down and come (when he wants to) but he is a chewer...he eats everything, lego, rocks, dirt, grass...all of it goes in the mouth.

So round two is up over at Treasured scrapbooking.....

*Use the TITLE OF A BOOK as your layout's title

*Use the phrase, "The things I've learned about" as part of your journaling. You can paraphrase slightly, but it must be very close to that phrase. Please include a typed version of your journaling in the description of your page.

*Use lined paper or ledger paper on your layout. Feel free to make your own if you don't already have some.

*Use at least three layers of paper somewhere on your layout, it can be cardstock or patterned paper, as long as there are three layers.

*Use something school/learning related on your page. That could be a definition from the dictionary, a page from a book, school related papers, a map, a math problem, ANYTHING along those lines.

Elimination Challenge

I am in an elimination challenge over at treasured scrapbooks....this weeks challenge was

Patterned Paper from THREE different manufacturers
Only ONE sheet of cardstock, and you must use at least one
Two pictures (they must be taken by you for this round)
5 buttons, and only 5 buttons
Your title must contain at least five words
Something handmade (can be an embellishment, doodling, something not scrap related like something sewn or painted)

busy busy time

Summer is winding down but we don't seem to be unwinding!

This weekend we leave to go to Cedar Point with Jon's parents and nephew. It is going to be so much fun! Cody really wants to go on the corkscrew, and Tyler the swinger, and Jon wants to go on the Top Thrill Dragster...me I just want to take photos of my boys having a fabulous time! We are staying at castaway bay which will be lots of fun too as it has a giant water park!!!

Also on the 5th we are having a pig roast with our family and friends! Its going to be gret! The kids start school the following Tuesday! I am tired already!

Anyways just wanted to stop in a say hi and when I get back I will be sure to post some photos!

Well, its Sunday

and my boys leave today for camp.....its the first time my boys will be away from me for more than a night or two....Tyler was upset a bit last night and worried about it but I reassured him that everything was going to be okay and he would have a really good time and make lots of new friends...I just wish someone would reassure me! lol! Cody is being very calm about it....it says he is going to miss me but he is really looking forward to it. I looked at the forcast for the week and its saying rain for most of the week...I hope the weather man is wrong and its nice so my kids will have a good time!

On a scrappy note I finished another layout for my in laws album....this is my bil Mark when he was little!

Well I am going to spend some more time with my boys before they leave...

I can't believe August is here already....this summer just flew by! Seriously...what happened?

next week the boys are at camp for their first time! But I have the other kids I watch so I won't be able to enjoy any me time....man I am so going to miss them.............I have never been away from them for more than a night or two! its going to be so difficult....

I am working on an album for my mil & fil for Christmas of their kids growing up.....

I do love summer...sleeping late (except on the days when I watch two other kids) spending the days with my boys.....but it was soooooooooooo hot last week I hid in the air conditioning! But I did get a few layouts done!

Back from our vacation

We are back from our camping trip. Every year we head out to Wildwood campground where my parents have a trailer. We love going.....lots of activities for the kids and we get to relax! We spent most of the time at the beaches as it was soooooooooooooooooo hot!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was really enjoying playing in the water and being with my family I didn't take very many photos but I have a few thta turned out pretty well. I thought I would share...

Hi everyone....

Tomorrow is Canada Day! We are 143 years old! Happy Birthday Canada! I am very proud to be Canadian!

....I can't believe summer is finally here....yeah! The boys are out of school, we are going camping next week...well if you call it camping. My parents own a trailer at campground and it sleeps like 12, has air, shower, T.V., etc...all the amenities of home but its across the road from a beach! We go out there every year! so looking forward to it.

Today was Ty's class trip to Camp Kenesserie. It was a lot of fun watching the kids run around and have so much fun. They learned how to work a compass, played games, went on a nature walk, and even played dodge ball with about 60 kids! I got a few photos but nothing outstanding as I was busy enjoying the day!

I absolutely love Pink Paislee's Queen bee line...it is so versatile!

I also did a challenge over at Scrapbook Deals For you and Scrapdango A real stretch for me to work with such bright colors but it was fun!

This is Our youngest Ty with his best friend Chase. Its funny because Chase's mom is my best friend Michelle! I bought these origins papers not sure if I would really like them but I have really fallen in love this line. I bought one of every paper and I had enough to create 7 pages!

I think I must of been bit this week by the scrappin mojo bug! I wanna scrap! So I did a couple of layouts for challenges at scrapdango! Challenges really get the mojo going!

This was for a take a sketch or layout and make it yours challenge. I used a pencil lines sketch (#187) by Jane Jones and to make it my own....fussy cutting, inking, and adding dimension using foam dots.
