Buddies!

Good morning!
It is so good to be well!
Sorry I disappeared but my oldest son & I have been sick for 2 weeks....this bronchial virus knocked us both for a loop!
I didn't even get to play with my new kit when it came in...I was so disappointed!
But as soon as I got feeling better I could not wait to dig in!

So here is my first layout using the Scraps Of Darkness
'Michelle's Mechanical Madness' kit!

This is our oldest Cody and his best friend Nate at their graduation from grade 8 in 2014!

The colors of this kit is amazing!  I love the hints of blue!
For this layout I used the Melissa Francis Glamour & Grunge papers

I used the flowers from floral add on and some from a previous kit!
I also used the Fabscraps metal filigree embellishments from teh mail kit - added some gesso and a few of the Prima crystals!

I did a lot of tearing to add to the texture of the background!
I took a piece of lace from a previous kit and misted it with the Lindy's Stamp Gang - Starburst Mist - Afternoon Delight Denim from the color add on

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Beach Memories

Hi everyone!

My family loves the beach!  We spend a lot of time at the beaches in the summer.

This is one of my favorite photos of Cody at Erieau Beach.

I used lots of leftover from Scraps Of Darkness carious kits!
Thats one of the reason I love the kits so much - I don't get bored of working with all the yummy stuff...I will go back and work with the awesome papers again and again and again and so on lol!

I used a fabulous sketch from Blue Fern!

Here are a few of my detail shots!

I love to alter chipboard with mists....it really gives the beachy feel  to the layout

I also misted a couple of doilies...

Getting dirty!

Good morning everyone!

I am a mom to two very different boys - Cody is tidy and neat! Then there is Tyler....I end up cleaning up after our youngest the most - why you may ask....because he is a dirt magnet!
His favorite pastime is being in the shop with his dad, getting covered in oil and dirt and who knows what else....but he is happy so therefore so am I.
I always say 'God made kids in wash and wear sizes' lol!

Tylers other favorite activity?
Riding the go kart - he loves it the most after a rain and he can get a rooster tail going and do doughnuts with mud flying everywhere.....
The smile on his dirty face is proof that he is having a wonderful time!

I wanted the elements and the 7 dots paper to fit the dirty feel I was going for....

I covered the Leaky Shed Watch parts and the Gear Set  and that circle is a part from the Scroll Frame Ornament that I did not use when I used the ornament in sand texture medium, then sprayed them with mists and inks!
after I had everything layered I added some gesso!

I also used the sand gel medium with 'My'  and 'Boy' and with a stencil, then sprayed and inked and gessoed

My Anthem!

So I am hosting the
Music Inspires Creativity challenge  at Scraps Of Darkness

Music is everywhere around us....we listen to our favorite bands, the themes of our shows, the background of the movie we are watching, commercials and nature - the wind in the willows, the birds singing, music is everywhere. In my house it is a big thing. There is always music on somewhere in the house. Our oldest plays the guitar but both boys are eclectic in their music preferences and it is always on. They will be listening to Metallica, then Johhny Cash then Maroon 5. It is pretty cool. So, when I was thinking about challenges I could do, music seemed a natural choice. So for your first challenge I want you to create a paper layout using any products and materials that represent YOUR ANTHEM....
according to oxforddictionaries.com;
anthem
A rousing or uplifting song identified with a particular group, body, or cause:
ie - the song became the anthem for hippie activists
So I want you to figure out what your anthem is...a song that you identify with, a song that helps define you, a song that when you listen to it either makes you say 'hey thats me' or 'I want that to be me' and create your layout using that song as inspiration.

the rules:
*you have until March 31st to upload your layout into the appropriate folder.
*can not be used with Lisa's mixed media challenge
*when you upload your project please let us know which song and why it is your anthem
*I will do a random draw for the winner of a wonderful prize donated by Melinda

and I created my example!

I used lots of Scraps Of Darkness previous kit goodies and some Leaky Shed Studio chipboard

I made some of the flowers, others are from my stash and some I sprayed with mist.
I applied some gesso

I love the weight of the Leaky Shed Studio Chipboard because it takes well to being altered.

I inked, then I misted them.  I used some glossy accents to adhere diamond dust, then sprayed some more and of course gesso!

The journaling is under the photo and it reads:

'When I hear the song 'Hand in my Pocket' by Alanis Morissette I can't help but sing along!
I really feel like this is my 'anthem' because I really identify with it!
There are two side to the songstress, there is something bad but something good.  She sees the bright side and even though she doesn't have the answer she's ok.  Just like me.  I don't have the answers, I don't know whats going to happen in the future, I know life is not all unicorns & rainbows and its ok to not be, 'cause everything's just fine, fine fine'
