April ScrapThat! kit layout

I created a super simple layout that I think really focuses on the photo of our youngest son.  I used my Tim Holtz edge distresser, made some more flowers, added the burlap and flowers from the add ons and a title and it was done!  I really do believe that this world is better because Ty is in it!

here are a couple of detail shots

Another April ScrapThat! kit reveal

Hi everyone....I thought I would share another layout I created using this months ScrapThat! kit!

This one was super easy and fun to create....I made some flowers (of course) and used my sizzex embossing folder on the photo mat.  The letters were a little too pink so I used my Stampin up - close to cocoa - ink pad and changed the color....I distressed the edges, sprayed the paper with pewter perfect pearl mist and suede glimmer mist and then tipped it up so the mists would run.  I added the burlap and embellishments and my layout was complete!

Here are some of the details

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day!

ScrapThat! Kit Reveal

Hi everyone!  This months kit was too much fun to work with!  I loved the papers and the colors were perfect and it has some awesome embellishments!

I thought I would post each layout in its own post so I my blog post is not so long

My first layout I did I used Amy's sketch...

This is my family a few years ago......
I love bricks....I think they are one of the coolest trends right now.....

to create the bricks
I took a piece of scrap cardstock and painted it with texture paint - you can find it at most craft stores.  you have to wait for it to air dry, drying it with a heat gun make the paint bubble and it just doesn't look right.  then I misted them with nougat and sand glimmer mist and allowed to dry.  I cut them into different sizes and adhered them onto my layout using some pop dots to add more dimension.

here are some of the details

Have a wonderful day and thanks for stopping by

Sous sketch April 12

Hi everyone!  I hope you are all having a wonderful day.  It has been raining here for 3 days and people have started to get water in their basements, the river has rose and a lot of farmers fields are flooded so I am really hoping the rain has ended for at least a few days.
This weeks sketch was a real challenge for me as I rarely ever create a double page spread, but that the good thing about SOUS, they do challenge you.  Although it took me a bit to create it I am happy with the results.

it reads
'Every year Cody and Tyler decorate their own trees to put in their rooms for Santa to leave them each a gift'

here are each page

and here is the wonderful sketch

have a great day

Curly Flower Tut

Hi everyone! I love making flowers and the one I make a lot is a curly flower...I am not the original designer of this flower, I saw it by CraftBrulee on YouTube and changed it just a little bit to suit what I needed.

To make this flower you will need
2 - 6 or 5 petal die cut flowers (you can use the tattered flowers die by Tim Holtz but I used my cricut Flower Shoppe cart)
2 - 9 or 10 petal flower

1 skewer or small paint brush
1 foam piece like from your brads come in
ink
hot glue
pencil with an eraser on the end
scissors

1 - taking your scissors cut each petal on your 6 petal flowers so its a little bit longer like this, being careful not to cut too deep

2 - ink the edges of each petal

3 - fold each petal in half

4 - fold the petal back like you do a paper airplane

5 - when you are done your flowers will look like this

6 - using your paintbrush or skewer roll each petal one forward and one back

7 - when you are done it will look like this

8 - using the foam place you first 6 petal flower on it....press down using the eraser end of your pencil so it forms a bit,

9 - add some hot glue, and add your second 6 petal flower so the petals are alternating and push down with your eraser end of your pencil

10 - add your first 9 petal flower leaving the center a little open and glue down

11 - add your second flower to the center of the first curly flower and add a little ink to the top if you would like

your flower is done!

here is a layout I created using these flowers and this months wonderful ScrapThat! kit!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see some curly flowers on your project!
