Cody's Fiels day!

I had so much fun watching Cody do his track and field the other day. He's only 6 and is in grade one. He didn't want to do it really in the morning before we left because he was afraid he wouldn't get any ribbons but I told him that he had to try. He said that he was afraid of being a loser. I wanted to scream that a 6 year old can NOT be a loser but I calmly told him that the only losers are ones that don't try. You don't have to come in first to be a winner you just have to try your best. He seemed satisfied with that and proceeded to have a good day. He is not very athletic but he loves to have fun! He is so dang cute! Ok so here are a few photos!

This is Cody at the 'HOP'

And Cody doing the short jump

Cody doing the ball toss

Cody doing the race

and Cody at the end of it!

He ended up with a bunch of ribbons and a really tired but fun day!

Have a great day everyone!

Happy Mothers day!!!

I love mothers day! It's so nice to be able to sit back and put my feet up and do nothing..yeah right! LOL!!! Actually I did get spoiled! Yesterday we had my entire family over....mom, dad, brother & family (4) brother & wife (2) brother in law (sister was away) and nephew (2) uncle (1) and us (4) for a BBQ for my moms mothers day and my dads birthday! It was a little chilly so we ended up having everyone inside. Well it ends up that I needed a new BBQ so my hubby went out and bought me a HUGE BBQ...this thing is massive! I love it! No charcoal, thick grates, pull out grease pan, and stainless steel! So I love it. We all had a good time!

This morning I also received from Cody (age 6) a set of stationary with envelopes that he made at school and Ty (age 5) had painted a terra cotta pot and planted pansies. Too sweet. We just got back from my in laws for their celebration of mothers day and my father in laws b-day! Had a nice BBQ and now I'm just sitting relaxing!

Another project done...

I have been working on creating a scrapbook for our oldest sons teacher. (I make one for the youngest ones too) and I decided to do a year in the life album. Each month will have a two page spread for her to add her own photos too. Anyways this is what it looks like;

The first page

I could NOT get October to scan and stitch together correctly so I had to take a picture of the second page...

November didn't want to stitch together either!

and the last page

So what are you getting your kids teacher? are you making it?

National Scrapbook Day

I love NSD...there are so many fun things going in the scrapbooking world that I had lots to choose from. My hubby was fixing a broken gas line on my dads truck for him so my mom & I walked up to the our local scrapbook store...crop til you drop owned by a very dear and sweet lady named Debbie. She and I have gotten to be friends over the last year or so and she is one of the nicest and kindest people you could ever meet! She had this fabulous sale on...Bazzill cardstock on two for a dollar....I stocked up and she got in the new felt border in a rainbow of colours and the glitter also in all the colours
and the large brads

She also got some great things in from Prima the new sprites are cuter in real life then they look and the new little tins!

So if you are ever in this area stop by and say hi!

I got quite a few layouts done this weekend...I am pretty proud of myself! There were a lot of challenges posted over at Kitty's Kloset! I tried to complete as many as possible! It was a lot of fun! There were prizes and games and shoe box points...that s a great incentive! Don't worry if yo think you missed it because we are also having a month long anniversary celebration that is pretty awesome so make sure you check that out! there are some great prizes and challenges coming up! This is what I got done...

This is for the why do you scrapbook challenge....I used my earlier post as my journaling

I also did a couple of pages for my mother and father in laws book. This is the first page of their album

I also did a layout about my mother and her siblings...it was for a circle challenge

I did a very simple layout about her first communion and confirmation

I also did an altered frame...another challenge over at Kitty's Kloset!

I also spent some time at another of my favorite sites... Scrap N' Circle...a group of friendly and inspiring ladies. I played this really cool game called Deal or No Deal for ribbon...I won 14 yards of ribbon!!!! That is so cool!! You should stop over there some time.

so how did you spend you national scrapbook day?

Why do I scrapbook?

This question was asked by Christy at Scrapgarden as our blog challenge.

Wow is that a loaded question...there are so many reasons that I scrapbook. Our 6 year old asked me that too. This sweet little cherub face looking up at me with his kooky little smile asking a question that he really wanted to know that answer to. I looked at him and said 'this is why...moments like this' He looked utterly confused and didn't really understand my answer but that is why. To record the everyday moments that affect my life. The moments that make my heart sing because our boys are laughing so hard, the moments that reveal their complete innocence, the moments that are everyday, not very exciting, nothing really out of the ordinary moments that make my life extraordinary. I want to record everything I can so when they are grown up they look back and relive those moments that helped mold them into who they are. To show everyone how much I truly, deeply, madly love my husband Jon from the very bottom of my soul. I want future generations to know us...really know what we were like, not just by the photos but by the story behind the photos. They will know that I ove my family with every fiber of my being and my scrapbooks are a testament to my love for my family.

Don't forget to come over to Kitty's Kloset for a month long Anniversary Extravaganza!!!! The first challenges have been issued so come over and join the fun!
